APE’s philosophy is to identify and correct faulty movement patterns with the hope that our clients will be active and thrive into their 70’s and 80’s. 

 

At Athletic Performance Edge the emphasis is placed on identifying inefficient movement before anything else. Whether you are an elite athlete or a professional in a confined environment, efficient movement is essential to vitality and achieving optimal health. My philosophy is to identify and correct faulty movement patterns with the hope that my clients will be active into their 70’s and 80’s. 

At APE each client is put through and initial movement analysis to ensure that all deficiencies are identified before any program development begins. The program is the built to attack the client’s deficiencies with an emphasis on strength, conditioning, core stability, power (sprinting/Olympic lifting), plyometrics, and mobility. The programs ensure that every exercise has beginner and expert progressions to meet the client’s needs. 

APE is fully insured and offers indoor and outdoor training in Kemptville/North Gower area. Our rates are both competitive and flexible and vary depending on location and program frequency and type. Please contact us for further information regarding programs and pricing.

Sport Specific Training

APE specializes in sport specific training and offers a variety to training options for athletes, from one-on-one, to large group (team) training. Whether you are looking to prepare for a tryout, season, competition or just simply improve your mechanics and overall performance, APE can help.

One-on-One
Training 

All one-on-one training program will include a complementary head-to-toe screen, to help identify the individual’s deficiencies and imbalances, and from that a strength and conditioning program will be designed and adjusted to fit the specific individual’s needs. 

Dynamic Group Training

Do you have a friend, co-worker or significant other that you enjoy working out with? If so APE offers small group sessions to help make it more affordable and fun.

Online Strength & Conditioning

If you are interested in training on your own, either at home or in a gym, I can help design a program that fits your needs and works with the equipment that you have access to.

Sports Specific Training

Inefficient movement in athletics is metabolically costing, this applies to power based sports as well as endurance sports. To help improve the athlete’s performance and overall body’s efficiency, the training program will include the following:

  • Intra workout video analysis of gait, sprinting technique as well as exercise critique
  • Full written workout program for each phase of periodization
  • Comprehensive movement screen
  • Prehab exercise prescription which targets the most glaring weaknesses from the movement screen results and corrects them over time
  • Injury prevention emphasis
  • Active rehabilitation (for old or nagging injuries)

One-on-One Training

We take the same approach as Sport Specific training, but rather than focusing on sport performance, we focus on exercises, movements and measurables that will help improve ease of daily activities and counteract some of the damage those daily activities may have caused over time. Such as sedentary jobs, old sports injuries, accidents etc.

This program is great for anyone who is a recreational athlete or adventure enthusiast and is trying to elevate their level of fitness.

This program will include a head-to-toe movement screen, consisting of 22 exercises to help identify the individual’s deficiencies and imbalances, and from there a strength and conditioning program will be designed and adjusted to the individual’s needs.  The program will entail:

  • Full written workout program for each phase of periodization
  • Comprehensive movement screen
  • Video analysis
  • Active rehabilitation (for old or nagging injuries) as well as prehabilitation exercises to help prevent future injuries

Dynamic Group Training

Group training provides a general full body interval style strength and conditioning workout that uses a variety of dynamic movements to keep the body balanced. Training is available in small and large groups, is fun and more cost efficient.

Small Groups: 2-4 people

Do you have a friend, co-worker, team mate or significant other that you enjoy working out with? If so APE offers small group sessions to help make it more affordable, fun and competitive

Includes the following:

  • Individual workout programming for each phase of periodization
  • Individual prehab program
  • Feed off the energy of others while still receiving task relevant queues
  • Cost effective
  • Movement screen for each individual

 

Large Group: 5-10 people

Provide a general full body interval style strength and conditioning workout that introduces:  proper sprinting, Plyometric (jumping) progressions, core stability and dynamic movement to keep the body posturally healthy and balanced.

Includes the following:

  • Cost effective
  • Interval/strength training
  • Movement screen for each individual

Classes & Clinics

From high intensity sprinting and boxing, to restorative stretching, APE provides a wide variety of classes to help improve the overall body’s optimal health and performance. All levels are welcome.

APE offers several classes and clinics for teams and small groups.

Sport Specific Team Dryland Training

  • This type of training is offered for any sport, age and level, and is available both indoors and out. The training focus is dependent on the team and their needs, and includes a focus on:
  1. Speed, plyometrics and endurance
  2. Weight lifting
  3. or a combination of the two
  • Team clinics are available on weekends and are split over Saturday and Sunday, 2 hours in duration each day

 

Small Group Speed Clinic

  • The speed clinics are available in small groups (minimum of 3 and maximum of 6), to both adults and youth.  The focus of the clinics are to improve: running mechanics, acceleration, velocity and overall endurance
  • The clinics are 2 hours in duration and are only available bi-weekly on Sundays

 

Boxing

  • A fun, high intensity rockem sockem hour and half class which is offered weekly on Saturdays
  • Available to adults 16 years and over
  • Minimum of 4 to a maximum of 12 participants
  • Each participant is required to bring their own gloves and APE provides all other equipment

 

Movement and Mobility

  • This class is offered monthly on the weekends and focuses on strengthening small areas often neglected as well as improving mobility in muscles and joints. The class includes both individual work and partner stretching with the use of various equipment to help stretch the body past its normal range of motion.
  • Minimum of 4 to a maximum of 12 participants

Online Strength & Conditioning
