About APE

Jordan Verdone, BA., CSCS Certified, Professional Athlete

My passion for health and fitness started at a young age. I grew up playing hockey, basketball, football, lacrosse, soccer and track and field throughout high school. After high school, I went on to play varsity football at the University of Waterloo and University of Calgary. While attending University of Calgary I was drafted by the B.C. Lions of the Canadian Football League. After B.C. I went on to play for the Montreal Alouettes and the Ottawa Redbacks. In my second season with the Redbacks I sustained a serious shoulder injury which required two shoulder reconstruction surgeries. Since then I have decided to step away from the professional athlete role and shift my focus on my family and on helping others reach their fitness goals.

I have completed the National Strength and Conditioning Association Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) Credential. As both a player and a coach, I have had the opportunity to work alongside and learn from a wide variety of sport and wellness experts and would love to use the knowledge I have gained, to help others. I have extensive experience with a variety of sports and physical activities and have worked with a wide range of individuals, ranging from youth to high-level collegiate athletes. My focus lies within sprint training, plyometrics, core stability, functional movement and mobility.

My passion for health and wellness extends beyond the workplace. I spent four years volunteering with an amazing non-profit organization called 3rd and 1 Football. We are dedicated to making football accessible to underprivileged and at risk youth in Ottawa. In addition to 3rd and 1 Football, I also volunteer at both a local high school and a CGEP college coaching football.

In my spare time, I enjoy being in the great outdoors with my wife and three boys, exploring the beautiful landscapes of Ottawa and Gatineau. When I’m not on the track or in the gym, you can find me fishing, hiking Gatineau Park or playing hockey on an outdoor rink with my family.
